TIAS2017 Wilson and Dan D’Agostino

Wilson’s imposing Alexx loudspeakers were on show, driven by Dan D’Agostino amplifiers and MSB digital sources.

Fittingly, the setup was in an enormous, high-ceilinged room which it took us a while to find on the other side from the main run of rooms. A huge range of electronics was on show there, with a treasure trove of jewelry-grade Dan D’Agostino casework in bright copper and aluminium casework.

The Alexx system was run at an unusually low volume compared to other demos at the Tokyo International Audio Show, but playing Saint-Saëns Symphony 3, there was generous, warm bass and an expressive, clear midrange.
