At Criterion Audio we love ATC speakers. In fact we like them so much our colleague here owns a pair of the famous ATC SCM40A (active 40) speakers, surely there is no better commendation than that?

One of the many interesting things about ATC speakers is their range of active speakers that sit along side the passive range. The active range have independent amplifiers for each driver. In the case of the SCM40’s it is a total of 242 Watts per channel. The ATC SCM50A has 350 Watts per channel, and the SCM200ASLT has 850 Watts per channel.

ATC speakers are a brand favoured around the world by many celebrated musicians, available to see here. ATC were first involved in the professional audio market (and still are). However, it became apparent  that many professionals in the industry wanted ATC speakers and electronics in their own hifi systems. They developed their drivers in-house and the cabinets are made in the UK. It is encouraging to see a global hifi brand representing the UK still being developed and manufactured here. It means that everything ATC design and manufacture remains under their control.
